Il faut creuser pour remplacer les drains français, isoler la fondation et l'imperméabiliser. Important pour avoir une cave sèche. En même temps, on peut voir si la structure est en bonne état.

Ce camion a été embourbé dans l'entrée pendant une heure, ses roues arrières s'enfonçait a chaque fois qu'il essayais de monter l'entrée.

Citron je t'aime, je te mange en gâteau aujourd'hui. Cette recette viens du livre de Bonnie Stern et des ses soupers du vendredi. Içi le souper c'est le diner de beaucoup de pays. Mais ici c'est le souper. Les anglais, (pas le mien) disent "dinner" aussi. Tout ça pour dire que ce gâteau au citrons et le meilleur gâteau au citrons que j'ai mangé et j'en ai mangé et j'en ai fait, croyez-moi.

Le secret est dans le glaçage. Sucre en poudre et jus de citron.

L'assiette viens de A.S.K. Pottery à Oakville , Ontario.

Je l'ai acheté sur le site de Etsy. Beaucoup de jolie choses chez Etsy.

La texture est parfaite.

C is for cake but also for citrus, that is why I baked this lemon cake yesterday. I love lemon and all citrus fruit. The recipe come from Bonnie Stern book "Friday night dinners" and I can't recommend it enough. Her lemon pie recipe is delicious as well.

S est pour Soupe - S is for Soup

La soupe. C'est bon pour la santé. C'est plein de légumes. C'est facile à faire. Ça dépanne. Ça goûte bon.

Celle-çi vient d'un livre de recettes de Moosewood Restaurant, "Daily Special" et elle est composée de patates sucrées, de lait de coco et de jus d'orange (dans mon cas de jus de clémentines). D'un peu de cari et de muscade (macis dans mon cas, j'avais pas de muscade). Du bouillon de poulet maison, pas en boite. J'ai pris le bouillon du poulet braisé que j'ai fait qui vient d'un livre de Nigella Lawson "Kitchen". Comme une poule au pot mais avec moins de liquide, ce qui donne un bouillon plus concentré. Cette soupe est délicieuse et il en reste. Un petit effort, 20 minutes de cuisson et une grosse récompense.

Soup is good. Easy. Fast. Full of goodness and veggies. Dependable and give you your dose of vitamins for the day. This one is from a Moosewood recipe book and is made of sweet potatoes, coconut milk, orange juice (clementine juice in mine) and some curry and nutmeg (mace in mine). I made it with chicken broth because I had some. Not in a carton, from a real chicken. In fact from Nigella's praised chicken recipe that give a concentrate broth.

Well, it was delicious and there is plenty of it left. A little effort and a big reward.

I have started to gather data on the traditions of knitting and crocheting in the Remnants Group on Ravelry and I have to say, it's pretty amazing. Not 5 minutes past and I had 16 responses. I'm really glad I belong to this fantastic knitting and crocheting community and I can't thank those fabulous people enough. My essay will be about knitting and crocheting and how all over the planet (I'll have to see how many Nations have this tradition in the responses I get) and how it propagates.

Fait doux aujourd'hui mais humide. Le temps est gris. Les pieds froids se font réchauffer par la poule. Coconut a droit au nom de poule parce qu'elle glousse. Je pense à Haïti. Je donne à la Croix-Rouge. L'Université Concordia de Montréal (mon école) organise aussi une levée de fonds et de biens non-périssables pour Haïti. Il y a tellement de moyens d'aider. Donner, ça fait du bien.

Je suis résolue, ça ce dit-tu? Je veut mincir, mince alors! Et de toute façon je ne fait pas de fritures mais j'aime les frites.

1- Coupe les pétates (voyez l'accent du Québec) en forme de frites.

2-Huile d'olive, sel, poivre et piments d'Espelette (miam!) ou cayenne.

3-Four à tres chaud (425ºF)(200ºC+) pendant 20-25 minutes avec la convection ça va plus vite. Surveiller et brasser à mi-cuisson.

4-Mélanger de la mayo maison ou pas avec de la sauce harissa et une gousse d'ail écrasée pour servir avec les frites. Je sais, c'est pas minceur mais c'est bon, bon, bon.

Mon gâteau de fête. Il est plus beau que bon. J'ai pris la recette dans un Marie-Claire Australien. Il avait l'air très bon mais il est en fait très médiocre. Beaucoup de liquide (250gr de beurre fondu, 200 gr chocolat fondu, 375ml de café, 2 oeufs et seulement 140 gr de farine.) Mmmm! J'aurais du lire la recette avant. Ca fait pas très pro. Et en plus pas de grandeur de moule. J'ai pris un 23 cm. Ca donne un gâteau mouillé même avec une heure de cuisson. Mais c'est pas grave, je vais en faire un autre. Un bon quatre-quart dans "The Cake Bible" va faire l'affaire.

I'm posting a few pictures from Iceland as the winter is pretty bleak here and it's getting dirtier as it's going toward spring. I spent only a week in that beautiful country and I will go back for longer that's for sure. It's one of the most stunning place I've ever seen. Not that I've seen a lot. But for tranquility and beauty and all the things I like, you can't beat Iceland's ever changing scenery. It's amazing.

I finally did some needle work on Sunday and it was about time. I bought some cheep reading glasses and proceeded to like needle craft once more. I abandoned it a few years ago when my eyes started to see blurry things and I got frustrated a lot. Not pocking in the right spot and all and pricking my fingers a lot. I took the bull by the horn and made a hanky with a drawing my husband did years ago of my late dog Domino Doberdoodoo. I loved that dog. It's not fantastic but it's a start.

And I did a little couture. We bought the piano bench last summer at an auction and Grant said it was not very comfortable. I found some great fabric at Etsy . So now all he needs is a little poof to put his foot up when he plays guitar. I can't believe I'm encouraging him. I must be going deaf as well.

I made this scarf to avoid doing lace and I really wanted to use this yarn for a spring item.

Here goes:

2 skeins of Therapi from SWTC

5.5 mm needles

Stitch pattern is a multiple of 6 and I think I used a 4 stitch border on each side. If I remember correctly I used 26 stitches total.

Row 1 = *Wyb sl 1, k2, psso, k3*

Row 2 = *P4, yo, p1*

Row 3 = *K3, wyb sl1, k2, psso*

Row 4 = *P1, yo, p4*

P = purl

K = knit

Wyb = with yarn in back (knit position)

Yo = yarn over

Sl 1 = slip one

Psso = pass the slip stich over (in this case, over the two k2 done right after)

Cast on 26 stitches

Knit 4 rows of garter stitches or a border stitch of your choice

Start pattern but don't forget your 4 border stitches at the beginning and the end of your piece of knitting and knit as long as you like, finish with 4 rows of your choosen border and cast off.

Tidy, block and enjoy.

Just a little dishcloth on a landmark theme.

One skein of Bernat Handicrafter and 4,5 mm needles.

Cast on 46 stitches (or a multiple of 8 stitches + 6 stitches for the border)

K = knit

P = purl

B = border stitches

P2t = purl 2 together

Yo = yarn over

Knit 4 rows or a chosen border and then begin the pattern:

Row 1: B3, *yo, p2t, p6* repeat until 3 stitches left and b3
Rows 2, 4, 6: B3, *k7, p1* repeat until 3 stitches left and b3
Rows 3, 5, 7: B3, *k1, p7* repeat until 3 stitches left and b3
Rows 8 and 16: b3, p all, b3
Row 9: B3, *p4, yo, p2t, p2* repeat until 3 stitches left and b3
Rows 10, 12, 14: B3, *k3, p1, k4* repeat until 3 stitches left and b3
Rows 11, 13, 15: B3, *p4, k1, p3

I did 3 repeat of the pattern but you can do one more for a squarer cloth. (It tend to be rectangular after a wash)

Finish with 4 rows in knit or a chosen border, tidy up and get that soap and in the shower you go with a gorgeous french, olive oil soap.

It was a very nice weekend but so cold. Brr! Our lake has been cleared for walking and skating. It's about 4 km long to walk around it and I live 1 km up the mountain. It's a healthy stroll. Unfortunately, these days I feel pretty flat and not chatty at all so I guess I'll make picture entries instead and lay off the words until I become verbal again.

L'art de relaxer. J'ai la grippe aujourd'hui et il fait -20º C, alors je fait comme Pépé. Rien. Me sent pas coupable, ch'u malade. Enfin un peu car j'ai de la visite demain et il faut nettoyer la maison. Demain. Le soleil est éblouissant et ca fait des belles photos. J'en ai fait avec mes lavettes de mon groupe de Ravelry. Oui encore des lavettes. C'est mon blog après tout et je met ce qui me tente dedans. Je vais à la campagne vendredi, je vais avoir de meilleurs photos et histoire peut-être?

J'aimerais dire bonjour à mon amie Christine et à sa famille. Christine, ce blog est une sorte de journal et compte rendu de ce qui se passe par chez nous. Tu peux y voir des photos sans avoir à les "loader" dans ton ordi. Juste regarder et rire un peu j'espère. Il est bilingue et ca pratiquera ton anglais un petit peu. En fin de semaine je prendrai des photos autour du lac et ca va te rappeler des souvenirs. A bientôt.

I made my little "bibittes à patates" (ladybug) with my "dishcloth weekly kal" from Ravelry. I never followed a "knit along" before but I have to admit, I really like it for some unknown reason. I also tough that dishcloth knitting was like doilies knitting: granny-ish. My granny use to crochet the most horrid things including a crochet dress for me to wear for my sister's wedding (in the '70's), in Pentex Yarn if you please. But those people at Ravelry changed my mind completely. And they're so nice, it's unbelievable.

Now, for those unfamiliar with Phentex, what can I say. Take the roughest acrylic, plasticky yarn and you have it. it even feel greasy but a lot of people make slippers out of them which are pretty well padded but you end up with clammy feet after a while.

I have a few balls and I think it would be good to make tawashi with them. Keep you posted.

My conclusion: I can't wait to make more of those dishcloths.

To begin with, this blog will contain french and english entries as well as various subjects such as knitting, photography, travelling, food, motorcycling learning bass playing as well as Japanese, cats, arts, books and blah blahs. So you can see the dilemmas about where and how to classify such a "blog". But dilemmas are not us. Well not for long anyway. So I'll begin with the Redpath Museum in Montreal.

Sunday I went to the Redpath Museum on the McGill University Campus. The Redpath is a wonderful natural history museum and free on top of this. I saw Sara the triceratops who's 65 millions years old the poor old girl. She was found in Saskatchewan. I also saw an Albertosaurus that you can see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albertosaurus.

There was some mommies there as well as a very nice collection of rocks, anthropology and more fascinating stuff. Don't you just love museums. I could not stay for long but I'll return shortly and try to include pictures in my entry next time.
